n. 1 an acknowledgement (admission of error; admission that he was wrong). 2 a the process or right of entering. b a charge for this (admission is {pound}5). 3 a person admitted to a hospital. Usage Has more general application in senses of ADMIT than admittance. Etymology: ME f. L admissio (as ADMIT)
